Construction

Ten market stalls were constructed in a Hull factory and transported to north east London for installation.

The simple form belies the complexity of the folded sheet steel cladding system which has no visible fixings.  The units are the second phase of community initiative to support small businesses in the Dalston area of North London.

This market stalls are designed to fit with existing building of back. The connection between them goes really well enough to make people to think it is not built separately. Bricks of existing building are now part of these new structures.

By construction Market Stalls are relatively simple. Placed in linear way, they don't take up much space, moreover, it's perfectly able to serve customers without creating unnecessary bustle.

Huts are built with gabled roofs, which are focused on the middle of the huts for two reasons: * in case of raining, the water wasn't discharger into the front side, where might be customers; * the water wasn't discharged behind the huts on the adjoining house foundations, which could lead to moisture accumulation, dabaging both buildings.

The highest point of the building is the roof top of the front side of the building that rises up to 3.10m height mark.

In the terms of the design architect dealt with the building in a very rational manner. Basically it is a cubic shape wooden form covered with metal cladding. Wooden frame is filled with insulation and on the inside sheathed with plasterboard and aterwards painted in bright tone.

Since the cabin area isn't very large, it means that activity is concentrated on certain points - at the desk and service desk. As floor selected tile flooring deck, which is more vulnerable to moisture and and able to maintain in long-term its physical and visual characteristics.

Facade side window hatch is convertible and at the same time also acts as an extension of the foor above the operation point.

In addition, We try to look at the mechanism how does the hatch function.
Basically we use the same construction in car's tailgate. Hatch is based on two shock absorbers that functions only when human effort is applied. In other words, tiltig the hatch air is indrawn into the shock absorbers and the mass of hatch is ot large enough to expel the air out from shock absorber - to close.
